Jan Haase

Jan Haase (M’07, SM’09) is 2023-2024 Chair of IEEE Germany Section. He received his PhD degree in computer sciences at University of Frankfurt/Main, Germany. Then he was project leader at University of Technology in Vienna, Austria, and a lecturer at Helmut Schmidt University, Hamburg, where he received his habilitation grade. 2016-2020 he held a temporal professorship for Organic Computing at University of Luebeck, Germany and is now a full professor at Nordakademie near Hamburg, Germany.
His main interests are Building Automation, Simulation, Low-Power Design Methodologies, Wireless Sensor Networks, Automatic Parallelization, modern Computer Architectures, and the educational aspects of teaching those topics to students and young professionals.
He (co)-authored more than 100 peer reviewed journal and conference papers and several book chapters. He frequently acted as general chair, TPC chair, track chair, special session chair, etc. at many conferences.
Jan is a voting Adcom member of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, past chair of the Technical Committee on Building Automation, Control and Management, member of IEEE HKN, and mentor of the VoLT program since the very beginning. In the past he was IEEE R8 conference coordinator, R8 professional activities coordinator, Austria Section chair, chair of the Adhoc on Cultural Differences of the IEEE Conferences Committee, and member of several other committees throughout IEEE.
