James Irvine is a Reader at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Currently working on security and deployment of private 5G networks, his career started in European research programmes on 3G standardisation in 1994. Dr Irvine has been a volunteer leader in IEEE for over 20 years. He chaired the Products and Services Committee in IEEE from 2021-4, and chaired the IEEE Conference Publications Committee 2013-5. Currently he serves on the Board of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society as Vice President Publications. His particular area of responsibility is conference publications, and he has been publications chair of over 20
VTS and ComSoc conferences, including VTC and ICC.
